Several new family MPVs from premium brands such as MG Motor and Kia will be introduced in the Indian market in 2025
2025 is less than 50 days away from us and as we head into the new year, we will witness a plethora of new cars launching in the Indian market. Most of the new models, ranging from SUVs, sedans and MPVs, will debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in January while launching gradually throughout the year in the domestic market. If we specifically speak about the MPVs, it has been confirmed that four new models will be introduced in India in 2025. Read below to know more about the upcoming family MPVs in 2025 in the Indian market.
1. MG Mifa 9
MG Mifa 9 MPV will go on sale in March 2025 in India, followed by its showcasing at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in January. It will be retailed through MG Select, which is the British brand’s premium chain of dealerships. Just so you know, the Mifa 9 MPV was also present at the Auto Expo 2023. Expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom), MG Mifa 9 will be aimed squarely at Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire in India. The MPV is already available in global markets such as the UK, Singapore, Australia and China.
Measuring 5,800mm in length, 2,000mm in width and 1,800mm in height, Mifa 9 is bigger in dimensions than both of its close rivals. It is offered in both 7-seat and 8-seat configurations. Some of the notable features onboard are powered front and rear seats with massage, ventilation and heating function, powered rear sliding doors, rear entertainment screens and dual sunroof. The India-spec Mifa 9 could draw power from the 2.0L diesel engine which we have already seen in the Hector and Gloster. It is also being speculated that MG could launch the all-electric version of Mifa 9 in India with a 90 kWh battery pack which delivers a range of 430 km on a single charge.

2. Kia Carens Facelift
The 2025 Carens MPV has already been spotted multiple times during its test runs. It will enter series production at Kia’s factory in Andhra Pradesh by May 2025, revealed an Autocar India report. The facelifted version will get substantial cosmetic updates while mechanically being unchanged. The front and rear profiles of the upcoming MPV will be tweaked to achieve a fresh look. The cabin is expected to boast of a new theme, borrowed from the Seltos. Kia could introduce a couple of segment-first features like ADAS tech and a 360-degree camera in the 2025 Carens facelift.
Under the bonnet, the 2025 Kia Carens facelift will continue with the naturally-aspirated 1.5L petrol engine, a 1.5L diesel engine and a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine. The MPV will offer a choice of manual and automatic gearboxes to the buyers. The Carens facelift is expected to launch in the second half of 2025 in the Indian market as it rivals Toyota Innova and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in the domestic market.

3. Kia Carens EV
Kia India will also introduce an all-electric derivative of the Carens MPV in the country. Though based on the 2025 Carens facelift, it will still be equipped with a lot of EV-specific components to maintain its own character and individuality. It could share styling with other electric models in the brand’s portfolio such as EV3, EV5 and EV9.
Kia Carens EV has been spied testing alongside the Hyundai Creta EV on the Indian roads. The Carens is likely to house the same 45 kWh battery as the Creta EV. The battery will send power to the front-mounted electric motor. It will at least have a range of 450 km on a single charge as it directly rivals BYD eMax 7 in India. One can expect the Carens EV to launch around the same time in the country as the 2025 Carens facelift.
4. New-Gen Renault Triber
Earlier this year, Renault India confirmed that it will launch 5 new models in the country by 2027, which includes the new-gen Triber MPV. It has been on sale for the past four years and hence, the French brand has decided to give it a makeover and equip it with modern features to stay afloat in the competition.
Though the new-gen version of the 7-seater MPV has not been spotted on the roads yet, nor Renault has revealed any specific timeline of its launch in the Indian market. We will have to wait a little longer for more details to emerge. So, stay tuned for more updates on the same.
