The dual-cylinder CNG technology doesn’t occupy a lot of space in the boot as compared to the traditional single-cylinder setup
CNG-powered vehicles are gaining a lot of prominence in India over the ICE and EV models. There are multiple reasons for this roaring success, which include higher mileage, lower price and zero range anxiety. However, earlier, people used to have hesitation while buying CNG cars due to the compromised boot capacity. The CNG cylinders occupy most of the boot and there is hardly any space left to keep your belongings and luggage.
Tata Motors introduced dual-cylinder technology to address this concern and later Hyundai followed suit in its CNG-powered vehicles. The revolutionary dual-cylinder tech used very little space in the boot and hence, the issue of luggage space was eliminated. Currently, there are several Tata and Hyundai CNG cars available with dual-cylinder technology, which are listed below in the article.
1. Tata Tiago CNG:
Earlier this year, Tata Tiago CNG was presented with dual-cylinder technology in a price range of Rs 5.99-8.75 lakh (ex-showroom). It also became the first CNG car in India to come with an AMT (automatic) gearbox. Some of the notable features in the Tiago CNG are an 8-speaker audio system, push-button start and tyre pressure monitoring system. The hatch gets a 1.2L petrol engine with factory-fitted CNG kit which develops top power of 73 bhp and peak torque of 95 Nm. The gearbox choices onboard are a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT unit.

The Grand i10 Nios CNG is only offered with a 5-speed manual transmission.
3. Hyundai Aura CNG:
The sub-compact CNG sedan was also updated with dual-cylinder tech along with the Grand i10 Nios. Available in three variants namely E, S and SX, it is priced between Rs 7.48-9.04 lakh (ex-showroom). Just so you know, the Hyundai Aura CNG E trim is priced even less than the Grand i10 Nios but it misses out on basic features such as rear power windows, an audio system and an infotainment touchscreen system. However, it is equipped with 6 airbags as a standard safety feature. At the helm of affairs is the same 1.2L petrol engine with CNG kit which produces 68 bhp and 95 Nm while paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
