The first-in-segment ADAS suite has been confirmed for the upcoming new-gen Honda Amaze; Launch on December 4
Honda Cars India is all set to launch the new-gen Amaze in the Indian market. Scheduled to debut on December 4, the updated sedan will get a complete overhaul in terms of design, interiors and features. The Japanese carmaker has already teased the upcoming sedan with design sketches, highlighting the new exterior design and revised cabin layout. The teaser images of the interiors also gave away the inclusion of ADAS with the new-gen model.
The new Honda Amaze will rival the likes of the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Dzire along with the Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor. For reference, the Dzire scored 5 stars in the Global NCAP crash test, becoming the safest car in the segment. The ADAS suite in the Honda Amaze will be a segment-first feature and it will make the sedan stand out from its rivals.
The ADAS is confirmed via the design sketch of the interiors where the lane keep assist can be seen in action in the digital part of the driver’s instrument cluster. The ADAS suite in the Amaze is expected to be a straight life-off from the City and Elevate which uses a camera-based system. However, there can be differences in the number of features on offer as the City and Elevate target a higher segment with higher sticker costs.

In terms of features, the ADAS in the new Amaze will likely get Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Road Departure Mitigation System amongst others. This will give a clear edge to the sub-4-meter sedan in the technology and safety department over the rivals.
Other major changes to the package in the new Amaze include an updated design, comprising of new front fascia with refreshed LED headlamps and integrated DRLs, a new design for the bumper with triangular fog lamp housing, a new set of alloy wheels towards the sides and reworked rear profile paired to new LED tail lamps.

The third-generation Amaze will be based on the modified version of the platform that underpins the City and Elevate SUV. Under the hood, the existing 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine putting out 90 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque will be retained for the Indian market, mated to the option of a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox.
