The DR-Z4S dirt bike and DR-Z4SM supermoto share chassis, engine and features while having individual identities and purposes
Suzuki, the Japanese auto manufacturer, has unveiled the DR-Z4S dual-purpose (road-legal dirt bike) motorcycle and DR-Z4SM supermoto bike at the EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy. Initially, Suzuki DR-Z4S will go on sale from Apr 2025 in North America and Europe while Suzuki DR-Z4SM will be retailed from May 2025 in the European and North American markets.
1. Suzuki DR-Z4S
Starting with the DR-Z4S, it is a multi-purpose motorcycle meant for city riding as well as hardcore off-roading. It gets all-LED lighting and LCD instrument console as standard. Suzuki DR-Z4S comes equipped with Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) which comprises Suzuki Traction Control System with Gravel mode, Suzuki Drive Mode Selector with 3 ride modes (A,B and C) and switchable ABS for both front & rear.

Suzuki DR-Z4S has a saddle height of 920mm due to its off-roading character. The ground clearance too is quite high at 300mm. It weighs around 151 kg, which is nearly three kg less than the DR-Z4SM supermoto. Underpinning a twin-spar chassis with an aluminium subframe and swingarm, the DR-Z4S draws power from a new 398cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which develops top power of 38 bhp and peak torque of 37 Nm.
Suzuki DR-Z4S rides on 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear with tyre section of 80/100 and 120/80, respectively. The dirt-bike has a fuel tank capacity of 8.7 litres. It is not yet clear whether it will be introduced in the Indian market but if Suzuki at all plans to launch, it could perfectly fill the vacuum between the 250cc and 800cc motorcycles in the brand’s portfolio.
2. Suzuki DR-Z4SM
Coming to the DR-Z4SM supermoto, it is intended for daily commuting as well as race track. The features on-board are identical to the DR-Z4S, except for a handful of changes. It also gets the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) with Suzuki Traction Control System, Suzuki Drive Mode Selector, Ride-by-wire throttle, and Suzuki easy start system. However, the ABS is switchable only for the rear wheel as compared to the DR-Z4S where it can be turned on/off for both the wheels.

The seat height stands at 890mm, which is nearly 30mm lower than the DR-Z4S. Even the ground clearance is 40mm less than the DR-Z4S at 260mm. However, the fuel tank capacity is identical at 8.7 litres. But it weighs 3 kg more than the dirt bike at 154 kg. Suzuki DR-Z4SM rides on 17-inch wheels at front and rear while powered by the same 398cc single-cylinder mill that makes 38 bhp and 37 Nm. This engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox and slipper clutch.
