The bookings for the Skoda Kylaq will begin on December 2, 2024; will compete with a host of SUVs in the compact segment
Skoda Auto India has finally unveiled the Kylaq compact SUV designed specifically for the Indian market and is heavily localised. The Kylaq, available in a new Olive Gold shade, is set to launch with an attractive starting price of Rs. 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for this highly anticipated SUV will open in India on December 2, 2024.
The Skoda Kylaq is heavily influenced by the design of its bigger sibling, the Kushaq as clean lines and uncluttered body panels add to its elegance. Based on the MQB A0 IN platform, the five-seater will take on Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Exter and Tata Punch.
After nine years, the Czech automaker has returned to the under Rs. 10 lakh segment and aims for big volume sales with the Kylaq. It will target customers in the Tier 3 and Tier 4 markets and be exported to several international markets. As for the performance, the familiar 1.0L three-cylinder TSI petrol engine has been utilised.

It develops a maximum power output of 114 bhp and 178 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard while a six-speed torque converter automatic unit is available as an option. The Skoda Kylaq measures a length of 3.95 metres and a wheelbase of 2.56 metres while the bootspace capacity stands at 446 litres.
It boasts a ground clearance of 189 mm. The Skoda Kylaq’s interior is outfitted with dual digital screens, one for infotainment and the other for instrumentation, a powered driver’s seat with six-way adjustability, leatherette upholstery, and in-car connected technology. Features such as ambient lighting, a six-speaker Canton sound system, six airbags as standard, 17-inch alloy wheels, an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, etc will also be available.

Safety features are comprehensive across all models, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, a traction control program, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, and three-point seatbelts and headrests for all occupants.
