Samsung‘s upcoming foldable phones in 2025, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, are expected to be powered by the new Exynos 2500 chip. However, the chip won’t be used in the Galaxy S25 series, which is set to launch in January 2025.
The upcoming Galaxy S25 series is going to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip for all models. Despite this, Samsung is still working on the Exynos 2500 and plans to use it in its foldable phones later in 2025.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 will likely be powered by Exynos 2500 chip featuring a 10-core CPU. According to the report, the chip will include 3 powerful Cortex-X925 cores, 5x Cortex-A725 cores, and 2x low-power Cortex-A520 cores. For graphics, the chip will have an Xclipse 950 GPU, designed to handle demanding games and tasks.
In addition to the standard foldable, Samsung is also expected to release a new tri-fold phone and an affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. The Exynos 2500 will likely power all these devices. Although the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 currently use Snapdragon chips, the Exynos 2500 may be the important part of Samsung’s next-generation foldable phones when they launch in mid-2025.
Reports reveal that Samsung has run into production issues with its new 3nm wafer technology, which has resulted in a low yield rate of just 10-20%. This makes it impossible to produce enough Exynos 2500 chips for the Galaxy S25 in time. Stay tuned for more information.
