One UI 7 is likely to debut new generative AI features but its rollout may be trickier than expected, it seems that Samsung could follow the Apple Intelligence strategy for this one instance.
A recent rumor suggests that Samsung may choose One UI 7.1 to bundle new generative AI capabilities instead of One UI 7. It raises some questions about Samsung’s approach to its AI offerings and we might have a few answers.
In August, Samsung launched Galaxy AI at Unpacked event for fold and latest flagship devices. Galaxy AI brought Circle to Search to make search efficient for on-screen content.
Foldable phones also have FlexCam for better frames by tracking where you are in the shot. The Note Assist feature transcribes recordings and organizes them into notes. The AI interpreter translates the audio into the selected language.
The real-time translation feature helps users to translate the incoming voice transmission. The AI Photo Assist feature lets users edit images to move objects, zoom in, reframe, and remaster photos.
However, Samsung has some additions in the generative AI features tank planned for One UI 7 including a system-wide transcription expansion.
That should also reference the new generative AI image. These are just a few key capabilities for the upcoming Galaxy AI suit and more might be heading to Galaxy devices soon.

One UI 7
Samsung has a pending major software update and the beta program continues to be delayed. December might be the month for the test season but it already stretched far too long. Meanwhile, Google has entered the Android 16 test phase and Samsung is nowhere to be seen for Android 15.
A recent screenshot leak revealed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra is running One UI 7. Samsung has many devices to cover with One UI 7 and the S25 lineup could launch featuring One UI 7 without AI features.
There are two reasons behind this scenario. First is that all One UI 7 devices aren’t eligible for Galaxy AI and the second is that all Galaxy AI phones can run One UI 7.
So, the first One UI 7 build will be available for all phones including the flagship models. On the other hand, One UI 7.1 could drop in with a specialized build to run large language models (LLMs) but it may also be available for all One UI 7 devices.
If rumors are true, we could see this happening, otherwise, Samsung will go simply with the One UI 7 to unravel all new generative AI features.
Apple Intelligence
It’s not the first time, we’ve witnessed such a rumor because Apple has already implied such a strategy with its AI feature rollout. It released iOS 18 for all eligible iPhones and packed the latest iPhone 16 lineup with the same version.
It happened after Apple promoted the iPhone 16 series with Apple Intelligence. The company seeded a separate build – iOS 18.1 with Apple Intelligence for six devices.
After the upgrade, of these iOS 18.1 iPhones, the company blended both Apple Intelligence-eligible and non-eligible devices firmware for future unified rollout.
Samsung
The Korean phone maker can follow this path and blend the software branch in order to provide these features to users once the AI rollout is completed.
For now, Samsung has not spilled a bean on One UI 7 beta but its launch will clear all doubts about the AI features and their status for eligible models.
