Monsoon Alert: IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Warnings for Southern and Northeastern States

Monsoon Alert : As the changing seasons bring a cool breeze to much of India, some regions remain under a heavy rain alert, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing warnings for several states. While most of the country is beginning to experience mild winter chills, residents in the southern and northeastern regions should prepare for intense monsoon activity in the coming days.

Weather in the North: Fog, Cooler Mornings, and Chilly Evenings

In Delhi and neighboring areas, the arrival of fog in the early hours and a crisp chill in the air signals the onset of winter. The capital is experiencing dropping temperatures, with daily highs around 33°C and lows dipping to 17°C. Meanwhile, states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana are also noticing a gradual but steady drop in temperature, especially during the morning and evening hours.

In Bihar, the weather has taken a seasonal turn post-Chhath Puja. Morning fog now greets residents, while clouds occasionally gather in the afternoons, hinting at the cold days ahead. However, the IMD predicts clear skies in Bihar on Thursday, October 7, with mild fog likely in the early hours in North Bihar. As temperatures hover between 30-32°C in the northwestern and northeastern parts of the state, the minimum can dip between 18-22°C, offering a cool respite to locals.

South India and Northeastern States Brace for Heavy Rains

Amid the cooler northern weather, South India and parts of the Northeast face a different scenario altogether. The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall alert in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Nagaland. As a new cyclonic circulation develops over the South Bay of Bengal, these regions could see persistent downpours from November 7 to November 12.

Additionally, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura are likely to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. The IMD advises residents in these areas to remain vigilant, as the forecasted conditions may bring hailstorms as well. With thunder and lightning adding to the volatile weather, the atmosphere in these regions will contrast sharply with the cooling northern areas.

A Season of Contrasts: Winter’s Arrival and Monsoon’s Last Gasp

As India embraces winter in many states, other regions remain locked in a lingering monsoon pattern, underscoring the country’s diverse climate. This unique seasonal overlap serves as a reminder of the ever-changing moods of Indian weather. Whether it’s bundling up in the north or bracing for storms in the south, the IMD’s forecast highlights a country experiencing two seasons at once.

Stay tuned for further updates, as the IMD continues to monitor changing weather patterns, offering a glimpse into the unpredictable dance of winter’s chill and the monsoon’s lingering embrace.
