Kia aims to position the Syros as a tech-forward option in its lineup, appealing to buyers who prioritize convenience and versatility
Following the release of the first set of teaser images, Kia India has today announced the name of its upcoming compact SUV. Christened the ‘Syros’ as we have speculated for several months, the five-seater will be revealed shortly and it will be slotted between the Seltos midsize SUV and the Sonet compact SUV.
The Kia Syros will boast larger proportions than the Sonet and thus emphasising better practicality. It is claimed to feature “industry-first connected features for truly next-gen driving experience.” The first tease video indicates the presence of an upright front fascia with triple beam vertical LED projector headlamps and vertical slim LED Daytime Running Lights on either side.
The Kia corporate badge appears to sit on the edge of the bonnet. What we already know is that the Kia Syros will feature tall pillars and a near-flat roofline ensuring a large greenhouse. We can also expect a large boot and a spacious cabin to enhance its versatility credentials. As for the performance, it will more likely use a 1.0L three-cylinder turbo petrol, a 1.2-litre NA petrol and a 1.5L diesel engine.

The Kia Syros will also get L-shaped LED tail lamps mounted on the pillars and a boxy tail section. The forthcoming SUV will be offered in multiple transmission choices as well. The equipment list will come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and a 10.25-inch digital instrument console.
Other highlights will include an electric sunroof, ventilated driver and front passenger seats, ADAS technology, a 360-degree camera system, automatic climate control, ambient lighting system, connected features, adjustable headrests, six airbags as standard, leather-wrapped multifunctional steering wheel, traction control, EPB and more.

We do expect Kia to competitively price the Syros in the domestic market and the compact SUV is tipped to receive a variety of powertrain options in the future.
