Hyundai Creta EV will be launched in January 2025 and it will be positioned in the highly competitive midsize eSUV space

Hyundai’s electric Creta, often seen testing on Indian roads, is anticipated to make its debut at the Auto Expo 2025 in New Delhi. This midsize electric SUV will enter a competitive market, going head-to-head with contenders such as the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400, and the soon-to-be-released Maruti Suzuki e Vitara along with its Toyota counterpart, further heating up the e-SUV segment.

In an investor meeting, Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Hyundai India, confirmed that the electric Creta will be launched in the domestic market in the first month of the next calendar year. In addition, Hyundai Motor India’s CEO and Managing Director Unsoo Kim recently said that the Creta EV is expected to be a game changer.

Spy shots of the Hyundai Creta EV highlight several design updates including reworked front and rear bumpers, a closed-off front grille, and new 18-inch aero-insert wheels. While the LED headlamps and tail lamps retain the signature look of the standard Creta, subtle tweaks lend the EV version a sleeker appearance.

The interior of the electric Hyundai Creta is expected to closely resemble its ICE counterpart, featuring a similar layout with familiar tech and features. To integrate the battery and other EV components, the current Creta’s K2 architecture will be modified, which could lead to slightly larger overall dimensions.

The Hyundai Creta EV’s cabin will feature a twin-screen setup (a 10.25-inch touchscreen display and a 10.25-inch digital console), a uniquely styled steering wheel, and a steering column-mounted drive mode selector. Among its highlights are standard six airbags, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera and wireless smartphone charging facility.

While it will support DC fast charging, the inclusion of advanced features like V2L and V2V charging remains uncertain. The electric motor may be derived from the entry-level Kona Electric which is no longer on sale in India. The Creta EV could have a starting price of around Rs. 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
