Honda Activa EV is all set to launch on November 27, 2024, in India; to feature swappable battery packs with a likely range of over 100 km per charge
Honda has been building anticipation for its first electric scooter for India, the Activa EV, with a series of teasers ahead of its market debut on November 27, 2024, in Bengaluru. These glimpses have unveiled significant details about the e-scooter, which seems to borrow heavily from the internationally sold Honda CUV e:.
The latest teaser confirms swappable battery packs as one has been lifted from the charging dock and put beneath the seat where another battery can also be seen. The CUV e: features a dual-battery setup with swappable Honda Mobile Power Pack e: units, providing the convenience of quick and hassle-free battery replacement for extended usability and the same will be available in the e-Activa too.
The Honda CUV e: is positioned as a 110 cc-equivalent electric scooter. Derived from the SC e: Concept showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2023, this e-scooter features a motor capacity of 1.3 kWh per battery, delivering a claimed range exceeding 70 km. Honda highlights that each battery requires just three hours to charge from 0 to 75 per cent, ensuring quick and efficient energy replenishment.

The scooter’s electric motor generates a peak power output of 6 kW, allowing for a claimed top speed of 80 kmph. The Honda Activa EV appears to utilize the same electric motor as the CUV e:, and recent teasers also hint at a similar seven-inch TFT instrument console. However, the Activa EV is expected to feature a larger battery pack, likely tailored to meet the demands of the Indian market.
The Honda Activa EV will come with an LCD display in its lower variants, offering a more cost-effective option for buyers. While the CUV e: features three ride modes – Standard, Sport, and Econ – the India-specific Activa EV might simplify this to just Standard and Sport modes. With a claimed range of well over 100 km on a single charge, the Activa EV is poised to compete directly with rivals like the Ola S1 series, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Ather Rizta.
