Udaipur, December 3, 2024: Hindustan Zinc’s Jeevan Tarang initiative, launched in 2017, is paving the way for an inclusive society by addressing the educational and developmental needs of specially-abled children. The program, in collaboration with the Noida Deaf Society (NDS), has empowered over 900 children across Ajmer, Bhilwara, and Udaipur, equipping them with the tools to overcome challenges and embrace their potential.
Transforming Lives Through Indian Sign Language and Technology
Take the inspiring journey of Neetu Rawat, a Class X student from Ajmer. Born with a hearing impairment and hailing from a family with limited resources, Neetu struggled to navigate a world that didn’t accommodate her needs. Through Jeevan Tarang, she was introduced to Indian Sign Language (ISL), life skills, and modern technologies. Today, Neetu not only communicates confidently but also teaches ISL to her siblings, fostering a better understanding within her family.
Similarly, Manish Kumawat, a Class VII student from Bhilwara, found hope through the program. Born with hearing impairment, he once struggled to connect with those around him. With the support of ISL training and foundational education under Jeevan Tarang, Manish has transformed his abilities into aspirations for a brighter future.
Empowering Through Holistic Development
The Jeevan Tarang initiative extends beyond education, offering sessions on menstrual health, financial literacy, career counseling, and safety. Students are also encouraged to participate in sports activities that build teamwork and resilience. Practical skills in areas like art & craft, beautician training, and home science further empower students to pursue entrepreneurial ambitions and lead independent lives.
Hindustan Zinc’s efforts are not limited to students. By providing ISL training to employees, business partners, and community members, the program promotes inclusivity at every level, fostering a society that is more accepting of people with special needs.
