The Aprilia Tuareg Rally has finally made its debut at EICMA 2024, delivering a rugged, rally-inspired version of the Tuareg 660 that’s tailored for hardcore off-road adventures. With an eye-catching Rally replica livery and a host of serious upgrades, the Tuareg Rally draws its inspiration from Aprilia’s successful rally racing machines, especially the one that clinched victory in the Africa Eco Race on its maiden attempt.
Aprilia Tuareg Rally: Key Upgrades and Features
Crafted to conquer unforgiving terrains, the Tuareg Rally is a lighter, more aggressive version of the standard Tuareg 660. Shedding 5 kg off its weight, it now tips the scales at a nimble 199 kg. Part of this weight reduction is due to the new SC Project exhaust muffler, complete with a titanium silencer, which comes standard on this model.
For off-road control, the handlebar has been raised and now features hand guards to protect levers and hands from rough falls. The seat height has also been increased to 880 mm from the standard 860 mm, offering better ground clearance for rugged trails. The oil sump guard has been upgraded to a tougher aluminum unit, ensuring the engine remains shielded against harsh elements.
Additionally, the Rally version comes fitted with tube-type knobby tires, and riders can opt for an accessory tyre pressure monitoring system to track tire health on the go. Enhanced KYB suspension units continue to offer 240 mm of travel, but with stiffer springs for a more responsive feel over challenging trails. The wheels, strengthened for durability, and the eye-catching anodized gold finish on the forks, handlebars, and wheels all add to the Rally’s fierce aesthetic.
Power-Packed Performance
The Tuareg Rally doesn’t hold back in the engine department either. It’s powered by the familiar 659 cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, delivering 80 bhp at 9,250 rpm and a peak torque of 70 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This robust engine, shared with Aprilia’s Tuono 660 and RS 660, is paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring a slip and assist clutch, ensuring smooth shifts and optimal control on varied terrain.
Upgrades to the Standard Tuareg 660
Notably, Aprilia has also made enhancements to the standard Tuareg 660. The model now boasts a 52 mm throttle body (up from the previous 48 mm), a refined engine map, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and a heated comfort seat for added luxury and control.
The Aprilia Tuareg Rally stands ready to redefine what riders expect from an adventure bike. With an array of rally-specific upgrades, powerful performance, and race-proven resilience, the Tuareg Rally is a bold, formidable choice for those seeking their next off-road conquest.
