Toyota recently showcased the Hilux Rangga SUV concept alongside the launch of the Hilux Rangga pickup truck in Indonesia. Known as the Hilux Champ in Thailand, the pickup is a smaller, more affordable variant of the Hilux, built on a cost-effective version of the IMV O platform. This platform is rumoured to potentially underpin a more economical version of the Fortuner in the future.
The concept demonstrated the adaptability of the Hilux Rangga/Champ pickup, emphasizing its potential as a versatile family vehicle. Drawing inspiration from the early Kijang models, the pickup’s body can be transformed into a passenger car or MPV, catering to both personal and work-related requirements. The concept derives power from the dependable 2.4L four-cylinder 2GD-FTV diesel engine.
The Hilux Rangga SUV Concept came equipped with LED projector headlights featuring LED DRLs and rode on custom 16-inch alloy wheels. To enhance its suitability as a passenger-oriented vehicle, it showcased a reworked rear body with a taller roof for increased cabin space and sleeker body lines, offering a more SUV-like appearance compared to the standard pickup variant.

Toyota made a significant impact with its IMV 0 concept, which focuses on flexibility, affordability, and customization at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. Built on a versatile, modular platform, the IMV 0 allows Toyota to experiment with a wide range of body styles and configurations. This platform is expected to pave the way for a more budget-friendly version of the Fortuner, specifically aimed at emerging markets.
