In 2025, brands like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, and Skoda are expected to introduce new sub-four-metre SUVs in India
The Indian automotive market is gearing up for a fierce battle in 2025, with Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, and Skoda planning to introduce new compact SUVs. As the segment witnesses a surge in popularity, these automakers aim to strengthen their positions and attract diverse consumer preferences:
1. Skoda Kylaq:
While the base price of the Skoda Kylaq is already out, the entire price list will be revealed next month in India. The compact SUV will be built on the localised MQB A0 IN architecture shared with the Kushaq and Slavia. It derives power from the familiar 1.0L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, paired with six-speed MT or automatic transmission options.
2. New Hyundai Venue:
By the middle of next year, Hyundai is set to launch the second generation Venue with production beginning at the recently acquired Talegaon facility, previously owned by GM. Referred to internally as the Q2Xi, the 2025 Hyundai Venue will likely feature significant design and feature updates, although no major mechanical changes are expected.

3&4. Kia Syros & Sonet EV:
The Kia Syros will be launched in the coming months and it will be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos. It will boast a more spacious cabin compared to the Sonet and will be powered by multiple engine and transmission choices. The interior will also be loaded with features and modern technologies. Although not confirmed, the electric version of the Sonet is expected to launch in 2025 as well as it has already been spied testing.
5. Maruti Suzuki Fronx Facelift:
The refreshed Maruti Suzuki Fronx is reportedly set to launch by mid-2025 and may introduce a much-awaited strong hybrid petrol engine. While Maruti Suzuki has acknowledged working on a hybridized engine, it has yet to confirm an official release timeline. The updated compact SUV coupe is expected to get minor cosmetic and interior changes.

6. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV:
The XUV 3XO ICE has been well received by customers, averaging 9,000 unit sales per month since its launch. Its electric variant will more likely arrive in early 2025 following the arrival of the BE 6e and XEV 9e.
