Tata Harrier EV will be launched before the closure of this FY while the Sierra EV and Sierra ICE are also arriving soon
Tata Motors already confirmed that the Harrier EV would be launched in India before the end of this financial year while the Sierra EV and the Avinya are set to arrive in the next fiscal but the exact launch timelines have not been revealed. The homegrown manufacturer is expected to introduce the IC-engined version of the Sierra soon after the arrival of the electric variant.
It could be launched as early as the second half of next year. The strategy could follow that of the Curvv range as the EV stepped into showrooms first before the debut of the ICE version. While the official specifications are still under wraps, the Sierra ICE could use the familiar 2.0L four-cylinder turbo diesel engine found in the Harrier and Safari.
It currently produces 170 PS maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed torque converter automatic unit. Meanwhile, the new 1.5L TGDi turbocharged petrol engine could also be made available. We cannot rule out the presence of a 4×4 configuration either.

A brand new take on the Sierra was showcased in quite a few instances already and we do expect the production model to closely resemble the concept. Over to the Harrier EV, its conceptual version debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo before the close-to-production model graced the show floors of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024. It will be sold with single and dual electric motor configurations enabling a 4WD layout with good off-roading capabilities.
In addition, these forthcoming zero-emission vehicles are expected to boast a driving range of over 500 km on a single charge. In late 2023, Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to license JLR’s Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform. This strategic agreement grants Tata access to crucial components including advanced electrical architecture, e-drive units, batteries, and JLR’s manufacturing expertise.
