2025 Kia Sportage gets cosmetic enhancements and a more premium interior; mechanical updates have also been introduced
Kia has revealed the facelifted Sportage in its home market of South Korea with updated styling cues and a more premium cabin while new features and technologies have also been added. The fifth generation Sportage has been on sale in the global markets for three years and there is no better time to update the SUV than now ahead of the arrival of a new calendar year.
The front fascia has been redesigned with the addition of vertically positioned LED headlamps, more prominent inlets on the bumper and a revised grille section. Elsewhere, you could find newly designed alloy wheels and new fenders but the side body panels remains almost similar. The rear gains new LED tail lamps and a tweaked bumper.
The 2025 Kia Sportage’s X-Line variant is sportier than before with the inclusions such as new bumpers, bespoke 19-inch alloy wheels and blackened finishes in several areas. The cabin features a curved panel with integrated dual screen – a 12.3-inch display for infotainment and a 12.3-inch screen for instrumentation.

The Sportage’s updated cabin features new personalised interior themes, a new heads-up display, sharper AC vents, new two-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, mood lighting and switchgear. Safety technology includes a grip detection system with vibration alerts on the steering wheel, a driver-monitoring camera and advanced ADAS features.
The base model of the Sportage continues to be powered by a 2.0L engine, delivering 144 hp. For those seeking more performance, the 1.6L turbo gasoline engine offers 177 hp but now paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid variant also receives a modest boost, combining the same 177 hp 1.6L turbo engine with an electric motor that adds 64 hp.

Kia has enhanced the Sportage’s regenerative braking system, enabling drivers to adjust the braking intensity through paddle shifters. Additionally, the adaptive braking system now adapts to road conditions using data from the navigation system. The chassis has also seen upgrades, with the front wheel strut now equipped with a new two-way damper to help reduce road noise. Improved NVH levels are achieved through extra sound-deadening materials.
