The compact MPV segment will witness the arrival of new entrants while the existing products will get new-gen upgrades to keep the excitement alive

This year was full of new car launches and 2025-26 promises to be even bigger as it begins with the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January. Several new SUVs, sedans and MPVs are on the anvil and the auto aficionados are anticipating nothing less than a blitzkrieg from the top automakers in the country.

Renault, the French automaker, created a sub-segment of ‘compact MPV’ when it introduced the three-row seven-seater Triber MUV nearly half a decade back in India. Now, this segment is expected to grow with the introduction of multiple new products from other brands as well. Hence, in this piece, we have listed all the upcoming compact MPVs in the Indian market.

1. New-Gen Renault Triber

Recently, the Triber MPV received a mid-cycle facelift after being on sale for more than 5 years in India. However, Renault has confirmed that the new-gen model of the MPV is under development and will be launched by 2026 in the Indian market. The French brand could present it with a new architecture, design and interior while the feature list is also expected to be modern and upmarket.

Mechanically, the new-gen Renault Triber could be offered with the same engine alongside the manual and AMT gearbox options. Renault might go for a CNG variant too considering the high demand for it.

2. New Nissan MPV

Nissan will also launch an affordable compact MPV in the Indian market by 2026. To be based on the new-gen Renault Triber, it will have an identity of its own in terms of styling. It would measure under 4 meters to attract the subsidy benefits while the platform, features and engine will be shared with the Triber.

The New Nissan MPV price could start around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom) while it will be positioned below the Magnite in the brand’s portfolio in India.

3. Maruti Suzuki Compact MPV

Maruti Suzuki is also working on a compact MPV designed and developed specifically for the Indian market. Several media reports have claimed that it will launch a new compact MPV, based on the Suzuki Spacia, in India by 2026. Internally codenamed as YTB, it will measure less than 4 metres while having a three-row seating configuration as compared to Spacia’s two-row layout.
